The MGM Grand hotel is located at the "crossroads" of Las Vegas, and we can honestly say that it does its name justice. Its size alone makes it "Grand", but it also provides a wide selection of fun things to do- dining, dancing and gambling- at any time of the day or night.
The thing that grabs most people's attention about the MGM Grand is the 45-foot tall, 50-ton statue of a lion that's on a 25-foot-tall pedestal. Fountains, green landscaping and LED screens surround the statue, which is the largest bronze in the United States.
Going inside, guests of the MGM Grand Hotel will have their choice of over 5,000 rooms divided among four multi-story towers, with a variety of fine restaurants and a 170,000 square foot casino. There are numerous tourist attractions on site, like a zoo, a water park, and the CBS Television City Research Center studio- more than enough to keep any traveler occupied.
There is as much variety in accommodations as there is on the rest of the property; rooms vary by price and size. Bungalow and Tower rooms are more spacious, with all the modern creature comforts, while the Spa Suites have outsize bedrooms and Jacuzzi tubs. There's an outside entrance right off the Strip that leads to the West Wing of the hotel, where the rooms have high-tech amenities.
On the MGM Grand's top two floors is where you will find the Skylofts, a sort of "hotel within a hotel". There, service is tailored to the guest's needs; there's 24-hour butlering available. Right next to the Grand is the Signature Tower, which is a boutique property accessible via an indoor walkway.
One thing that entices people to come to the MGM Grand is the casino, where one can play roulette, baccarat, blackjack and craps, as well as try their luck at the slots. There's a spacious poker room, as well as a sports/race book.
If you get hungry, there are plenty of great places to eat. Have a surf-and-turf dinner at Colicchio's Craftsteak, or eat Italian food at Fiamma Trattoria. Get a taste of New Orleans at Emeril's New Orleans Fish House, or take a trip to old San Francisco at Nob Hill.
There's plenty to do to entertain yourself at the MGM Grand. The Crazy Horse Paris is an exact replica of the renowned cabaret in Paris, and the Cirque du Soleil troupe performs at the Grand regularly. At the Garden Arena, some of rock's greatest acts perform; championship boxing also happens there.
If clubbing is more your style, the Tabu and Studio 54 lounges will keep you dancing until dawn. For daytime partiers, the WET Republic is available. During your downtime, relax at the Spa in one of twenty Zen treatment rooms.
There aren't that many Vegas hotels that can provide a complete vacation experience under a single roof. There are so many things to see and do at the MGM Grand, you may not be able to do it all in one trip.
