Caesars Palace

Rome wasn't built in just a day, and neither was Caesars Palace. It continues to redefine the luxury vacation, and it is continually reinventing itself. The hotel and casino were built in 1966, but it has managed to stay current, ever raising the standard for what people can expect when they visit Las Vegas. There's fun for tourists, celebrities and high-rollers alike, and there's a bustling sports book ready for bets.

Just off the casino floor in a secluded corner is the biggest poker room in Las Vegas, and it measures over 14,000 square feet. It hosts the Heads Up Poker Tournament on NBC, and there are twenty-nine tables in the main poker area. There is lavish decor, with paintings by LeRoy Neiman and sports art by Neil Leifer. If you are successful at the tables at Caesars, you are rewarded with complimentary massages and full bar and food service.

The five towers at Caesars- Augustus, Centurion, Forum, Palace, and Roman- are very spacious and lavish, complete with marble bathrooms and full amenities. The Augustus Tower is just off the main lobby, and it has two VIP bars, a restaurant run by Guy Savoy, three wedding chapels, a spa, and a beauty salon. The Octavius Tower is under construction; with this sixth tower, Caesars will add a ballroom and five pools to its Garden of the Gods. Also by the pools is outdoor seating for Rao's, an Italian restaurant.

Caesars Palace was home to Las Vegas' first celebrity chef, Spago's Wolfgang Puck. The hotel/casino remains choosy in the restaurants it allows to run there, bringing only the best gourmet dining. If you like French cuisine, the Payard Patisserie Bistro serves up crepes and French pastries. The patisserie opens in the evening for a dessert tasting. However, if you like to indulge by shopping, there are a multitude of shops in the Forum, and more high-end choices in the casino.

Those looking to party will find a vibrant nightlife at Pure Nightclub. Dancers and bartenders keep the party going at the Shadow Bar, while Cleopatra's Barge Nightclub can dance on top of a boat, near a topless statue of the Egyptian queen. If you'd like to relax while having a drink, the Seahorse Lounge has a full bar and a large aquarium full of brightly colored fish and seahorses.

The old saying is that "all roads lead to Rome", and it's true at Caesars Palace. The hotel and casino have left an indelible mark on Las Vegas, and will continue to be a top destination for entertainment, gambling, shopping, dining and nightlife.
